How do I fix my body?

I used to weigh 280 pounds, and now I weigh 150 pounds. I lost weight unhealthily by going on a crash diet for a prolonged period of time. I basically lost all this weight in a half a year. I have left over skin from losing weight. It's not a lot, but it's enough to make me feel insecure about myself.

Back when I was losing weight, I had this image of myself looking like one of the guys on Men's Fitness, but I look nothing like that, and I never will. I saw myself getting lots of girls and having lots of sex, but I won't even allow myself to get a girl friend because of my poor self image from the loose skin.

I don't know what to do anymore. I'm very depressed about it and I've contemplated suicide many times.

I've even screwed up the way my hair grows now. During my weight-loss journey, hunks of hair would fall out, and would clog up the shower drain. I'm now stuck with thinner hair.

I don't know what to do. I wish I could start my life over again and never get fat.

Hey bud. Do not be so down on yourself, you lost alot of weight! Even though you did it a little wrong does not mean that you don't deserve a pat on the back! Congratulations! Many people live all their lives trying to lose weight and never do. Popular culture wants you to think that by losing weight that you will instantly become he-man, and that is far from the truth!

Regarding your excess skin, if you are that worried about it you should consult a doctor (esp regarding the hair loss) on means of how to tone it/remove it, esp. if it is causing that much stress in your life.

I would imagine that the depression and suicidal tendencies you are going through is a culmination in your crash dieting biologically taking a toll, your false irrational belief that becoming skinny would solve all of life problems, and all the stress that has come about from you weight loss overall. Stop crash dieting immediately.

Please go to this website:

You can get surgery to fix loose skin. Convince your parents if you can't afford it yourself.

And/or begin bodybuilding to build muscle up beneath the skin to fill it up.

That's great that you've lost so much weight. It normal to have loose skin wen you lose a dramatic amount of weight. Loose skin is just excess fat. Start with dieting correctly, begin lifting weights and building muscles, and a lot of running. It won't disappear instantly but over a period of time you'll begin to notice your body toning up. first off, suicide is not a way to resolve anything, so PLEASE contact 911, call a local suicide hotline or go to you local ER if you think you will do anyhting.

Also, please seek a psychiatrist who can help you through any depression and other issues.

second of all, you accomplished something that most people can only dream of, losing all that weight. It is almost like a sign of your journey.

you ever hear men wear scars like badges of honor...this is the same thing...be proud of yourself

You can also seek out a personal trainer and see if you can "fill" the excess skin with muscle. They should be able to help.

If you are really that self conscience, you can also probably go to a surgen who can cut off the excess skin somehow, i dont know, but you can ask. I dont think you need to, but if you feel you must, you can look into it.

As far as your hair, a dermatologist should be able to help.

But PLEASE look into seeing a doctor ASAP and remember you can always call 911, a suicide hotline, or go to the emergeny room as I said earlier.

Best of luck and congratulations on your weight loss - you should be very proud!
