That is a very good question! The same reason I suppose that women are all depicted as being blemish, cellulite, and fat free on everything. It is the new society "norm". I find it quite delusional to say the least. From my experience, there are women who love a hairy chest and some that hate it. Just like there are guys who like a large woman and some that do not. It's all up to personal preference. I for one love hairy chests! If I see a man with a bald chest, I feel like laughing at him. Like, what happened to your manhood?!?? lol :D

BTW: I have always been attracted to men with hairy chests, and so was my mother, her mother, and her grandmother. So YES, many many women like men with hairy chests. Why do you think tom selleck (sp?) was so popular?

sometimes modeleing directors dont want hair and its alot easier 2 add hair on for shots if the need 2 much harder 2 take of!

They probably believe by some ridiculous source that every woman finds no hair attractive but that's not necessarily the case. They're basically playing safe and trying to sell as much as possible, that's all they care about really. Selling.

Well it looks better walking down the runway. It will not be too appealing to see a man with hairy chest walking down a runway in Armani. lol. clean cut is the best way. Hair on a mans chest just shows the strength of a man. I beleive thats why some women like hair on a mans chest.

i think it depends on the guy. if he's REALLY built (not like body builder, but yum... ) then i like hairless, or just a little right in the center of the chest. if he's not built, then a little more is ok with me. i hate hairy chests. just a little in the center and a little happy trail :)

hi there! remember that the essence of having models is for the purpose of giving an emphasis to a certain product of a brand such as clothes... having a hair on a man's chest wouldn't really help because each clothings will not be given proper emphasis... in fashion the focus is on what the models are wearing not on their appeal, except for the fact that models should be able to carry out the clothes in their on smart ways...

A man is not a man without hair on his chest. A must have.

If he has to shave that hair in order to see his muscles. Then he really doesn't have any to begin with.

A man that has real muscles, does not have to shave his chest to see them.

Chest shaving is gross, and a guy without hair on his chest, is a turn off.

"many women like (chest) hair..." I don't completely agree with that. In fact the only woman I have ever heard say she likes chest hair, is my mother. Chest hair is nasty, that's why male models are hairless.
